A combination of the know-how of Leica's engineers and the latest developments in manufacturing technology has resulted in this outstanding standard lens. This is made possible by a number of factors including the use of a floating element, special glass types with unique refraction properties, and elements with aspherical surfaces. The properties of this lens not only make it ideal for any photo situation demanding a handy all-rounder with the natural image angle of the 50 mm standard focal length, but also for available light situations, selective-focus shots, and even fine art photography - usually the preserve of much larger formats.

Attach classic Leica R lenses to a Leica SL body with this adapter

COMPATIBLE LENSES (same as for Leica R8 & Leica R9)
All Leica R lenses with contact strips are compatible, as are all lenses available for the Leica R models since 1976. Both apply in principle to joint use with appropriately
equipped Leica R lens accessories, such as extender and macro adapter (subject to
any lens-specific restrictions, please refer to the relevant lens or accessory instruction
for details on this.) However, Leica single-lens reflex lenses manufactured before
1976 (without R step) must not be used because they may damage this adapter.

The LEICA VIEWFINDER MAGNIFIER M 1.25x magnifies the viewfinder image by one quarter, providing a major aid in framing the subject at focal lengths above 50 mm. By magnifying the rangefinder images, it also greatly enhances focusing accuracy, especially when shooting at telephoto focal lengths. In this way it turns a LEICA M with 0.72X viewfinder magnification into one with 0.9X magnification; the effective rangefinder base length is increased from 49.9 mm to 62.33 mm. The LEICA VIEWFINDER MAGNIFIER M 1.25x is simply screwed into the viewfinder ocular of the Leica M. A small chain attached to the Leica M's carrying strap eyelet prevents it from being lost or damaged. A leather pouch is supplied for safekeeping when it's not attached.
