The new Voigtlander 28mm APO-LANTHAR VM mount is Voigtländer’s best performing VM 28mm wide angle lens ever, continuing the high performance standard of the VM 50mm f2 APO-LANTHAR, VM 35mm f2 APO-LANHTAR lenses. The Voigtländer 40 mm F1.2 Nokton II* VM combines modern high performance with the timeless charm of classic lens design. Two double-sided aspherical lens elements guarantee excellent image quality – even at open aperture. The large maximum aperture of F1.2 enables a soft, smooth bokeh and opens up creative scope in available light.

Despite its exceptional speed, the lens remains surprisingly compact: with a length that is ideal for working with rangefinder cameras and a weight of just 267 g (without accessories), it is light and balanced in the hand. The short length also reduces vignetting in the viewfinder image – a real advantage when working with optical viewfinders.

For optimum protection against stray light, the optionally available metal lens hood is recommended. This is available either as a compact version (LH-14) or in a longer version (LH-15). Both models can be mounted upside down to save space during transportation.

Differences to version I: the total weight has been further reduced (315 g à 267 g), and the filter ring is now completely black (instead of silver). The optical design has not been changed.
