All Leica R lenses with contact strips are compatible, as are all lenses available for the Leica R models since 1976. Both apply in principle to joint use with appropriately
equipped Leica R lens accessories, such as extender and macro adapter (subject to
any lens-specific restrictions, please refer to the relevant lens or accessory instruction
for details on this.) However, Leica single-lens reflex lenses manufactured before
1976 (without R step) must not be used because they may damage this adapter.

As a classical standard lens, the SUMMARIT-S 70 mm F/2.5 ASPH. produces a high richness of contrast up to the 0.5 metre minimum distance setting due to a floating element.
