Following the success of the E-Mount 40mm f1.2, here is the VM mount version. Optically the same as the E-Mount but slightly adjusted so it can be worked by both film and digital platforms.

It is well known that the Leica M's focal-plane shutter causes little vibration when it fires. But for lengthy exposure times, a tripod and Cable Release are essential. The remote release for the Leica M, featuring a conical thread, is screwed into the shutter release bushing. A locking screw lets you make long time exposures at the B setting.

The Leica Viewfinder Magnifier M 1.4x magnifies the viewfinder image by two fifths. Providing a major aide in framing the subject at focal lengths above 75 mm. By magnifying the rangefinder images, it greatly enhances focusing accuracy, especially when shooting at telephoto focal lengths. The 1.4 x viewfinder magnifier turns into magnification of 1x (0.95x with M8 Models); this combination allows comfortable viewing of the subject with both eyes. The viewfinders are simply screwed into the viewfinder ocular of the Leica M. A small chain attached to the Leica M's carrying strap eyelet prevents it from being lost or damaged. A leather pouch is supplied for safekeeping when it's not attached.

With its impressive angle of view of 107?, this new TRI-ELMAR conquers 16 mm super wide-angle photography in perfect Leica M style. Due to the minimal distortion and barely perceptible field curvature, it can be recommended for highly demanding architecture photography even at the 16 mm setting. Used on the digital M8, it produces the image effect of a 21 - 28 mm lens, still enabling extreme wide-angle views. The ultra compact shape is achieved by two aspherical elements. A new design of the interior focusing significantly enhances the quality in the close-focus range through an adaption of the floating element principle. Brilliant field depth can therefore be used from a distance of 0.33 m for hyperfocal photography.

By magnifying the rangefinder images, it also greatly enhances focusing accuracy, especially when shooting at telephoto focal lengths. In this way it turns a LEICA M with 0.72X viewfinder magnification into one with 0.9X magnification; the effective rangefinder base length is increased from 49.9 mm to 62.33 mm.
