Stamped on Leica Motor box saying ‘PHOTOGRAPHIC LABORATORY EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT HMS EXCELLENT PORTSMOUTH’

HMS Excellent is a Stone Frigate Naval Base located in Portsmouth that is still in use today.

Please note, a plate has been riveted onto the top of the camera, we were not sure what was underneath, so we have removed the top plate to view it and it revealed that it has been cut away so we will never know.

Also includes original baseplate.

Leica IIIc engraved with FL no.38079. FL represents property of the The Luftwaffe. There is a PC socket and metal plate riveted to the rear face of the top plate. This potentially covers Luftwaffe identification.

The 250 camera, often referred to as the 'Reporter', is a black Leica III with increased film capacity. The enlarged film chambers allowed a cassette containing 10metres of film (250 exposures).
