While inheriting the excellent optical system and compact style of it's predecessor, the filter ring is now black and the weight of the main body has been reduced to 300g by improving the internal mechanical parts. The Voigtländer 40 mm F1.2 Nokton II* VM combines modern high performance with the timeless charm of classic lens design. Two double-sided aspherical lens elements guarantee excellent image quality – even at open aperture. The large maximum aperture of F1.2 enables a soft, smooth bokeh and opens up creative scope in available light.

Despite its exceptional speed, the lens remains surprisingly compact: with a length that is ideal for working with rangefinder cameras and a weight of just 267 g (without accessories), it is light and balanced in the hand. The short length also reduces vignetting in the viewfinder image – a real advantage when working with optical viewfinders.

For optimum protection against stray light, the optionally available metal lens hood is recommended. This is available either as a compact version (LH-14) or in a longer version (LH-15). Both models can be mounted upside down to save space during transportation.

Differences to version I: the total weight has been further reduced (315 g à 267 g), and the filter ring is now completely black (instead of silver). The optical design has not been changed.
