The HELIAR classic 50mm F1.5 VM is finished to show classical depiction at the wide open apertures by the aberrations that intentionally remained. The Heliar Classic is measured by a different yard stick. Heliar images are about classic style.

This image effect is painterly or even "more fluffy" than images made by modern lenses. By leaving some factors of aberration, both coma and spherical, we create a different image flavor than contemporary images made in digital post-processing. Not every subject demands maximum sharpness and saturation, some require a more delicate touch. Our optical formula is like a hand reaching back in time.

This look cannot be obtained with modern lenses that over correct for various aberrations. In addition to the superior bokeh the remaining frame flare and single coated finish provide an extremely unique palette at wide open aperture settings.

The tried and well-proven optical design of this lens provides for a perfection of picture quality extending all the way to the extreme corners of the image field even at full aperture, as well as outstanding contrast throughout, at all apertures, even at close distances. Stopping down to f/2.8 or f/4 brings only a minimal increase in contrast. Distortion is extremely low and practically invisible. Its well-balanced design makes this ideal standard lens an outstanding choice in terms of all criteria, including image quality, speed, size, weight and price. It is also available in combination with the LEICA M7 as part of the entry-level set.

Create atmospheric moods

These specially calculated colour filters are particularly recommended for black-and-white photography with the Leica M Monochrom. The yellow, green and orange filters allow photographers to explore a whole range of creative effects with light and contrast. By modifying the conversion of colours to greyscale values, the colour of the filter in the original scene becomes lighter, and its complementary colour darker. This can be used to create uniquely atmospheric moods in landscape and portrait photography. At the same time, multicoating reduces reflections and ensures high transmission without vignetting.

UVa II Filter
Protects against damage and dirt

The UVa II filter protects the front elements of the lens against scratches, marks and dirt. At the same time, the new multicoating and significantly improved optical parameters make it possible to preserve full imaging quality, even in unfavourable lighting conditions.
